Need help getting a smooth transition off my decorative wraps to wide trim bands. Someone, please help! What's the secret? Obviously my technique stinks. Spend some, save some, give some away!!! :-) Re: Need help on decorative wrap!!!

Cut your threads off at an angle then carefully fray them with your scissors or a razor blade. Re: Need help on decorative wrap!!!

You basically need to "shave" the threads, and try to do it unevenly around the blank. It would be much easier to show you than to try and explain it intelligently in a short post. Just work at shaving the thread. Re: Need help on decorative wrap!!!

just wanted to reinforce what Randolph already mentioned "shaving the threads ... unevenly".
Once I have a top binding wrap started and and I cut my dec wrap threads I'll spend some time and trim them at an angle but also to differing lengths and then work the ends of each thread a bit. In this way I transition from bulky dec wrap to the blank over a broader area and it's less noticeable. Re: Need help on decorative wrap!!!

Here's how to do it. [visualweave.com] I do things a little differently now, but this step by step works well and has tought hundreds of builders the right way to tie a wrap off. I wrote this a LONG time ago, geez, I was only building for 3 years and that was probably my 15th wrap Re: Need help on decorative wrap!!!

Thanks for the suggestions gents, Billy I really appreciate you taking the time to post a visual. This helps tremendously. I'll get to work on my rod with this new info.
