finish question.

Yesterday I finished a rod with underwraps. I used a lite build (TM_lite) to soak into the thread of my Ncp under and over wraps. My question is should I continue with using lite build with my additional coats or should I step up to a high build? I also do a blend of even parts of Tm-lite and reg that gives a viscosity of Prokote. This rod is a saltwater medium.

Only difference would be that it will take more lite build coats to equal what you might be able to complete with just one coat of a heavier build. No idea about mixing products. I don't like to do that. I know some do and get good results but I'm not going to tempt fate.

For most typical builds, 2 coats of Lite are plenty. I warm the first coat in warm water before mixing so that it penetrates, then straight out of the bottle for the second... never needed a 3rd coat...

Chris:

I agree with Fred I heat the 1st coat of Epoxy with hot water, I also apply two(2) coats of finish, sometimes a 3rd coat is required, mostly of Saltwater rods
