Rayon Metallic thread

If one where to wrap with Rayon thread there is most often a problem with fish eye's do to the coating over the Rayon thread that rod wrapping epoxy does not normally like. My question is if one were to use a Metallic Rayon thread would you still run into the same problem's with fisheye and bonding since the Rayon thread has a metallic tinsel around it and there for removing the Rayon all together.

I have read that the "coatings" on various non-rodwrapping threads is a silica or teflon based lubricant for the sewing machines it's intended for. I would test finish a few wraps on something and see how it does. You may know this, but just in case ... the very popular Madiera Polyneon thread used on many decorative wraps has such a lubricant. A preliminary coat or two of a clear color preserver usually solves the problem. I recommend Cason's Crystal Clear. I have actually finished some madiera thread with no CP and it turned out OK. So I'm not sure the amount of lubricant in the thread is consistent from batch to batch. Good luck Glenn and don't hesitate to experiment and share the results.

What I was asking was not is Rayon can be used for rod wrapping as we all know that it can't because of the silicon coating on it but if one can use the Rayon thread that has the metallic tinsel over the Rayon thread as I would think that the tinsel would eliminate the problem with the silicon coating all together.
