Multi-sided chevron

Making my first multi-sided wrap. I understand the 0 and 180 centering / taper adjustment measurements. For the 90 and 270 chevron, does that share the same measurements or is there an initial offset for that different from the 0 and 180? Seems odd the top and one side would match and ditto the bottom and opposite side. Thanks for the help.

The same taper will affect the 0 and 180 as the 90 and 270.

Just like the layout crosses that are on the bottom are inbetween the top crosses so are the side to side crosses inbetween the top AND bottom. Also, remember that when ever you add an axix of patterns to double the number of patterns and you shorten the overall distance between patterns by 50%.

Example....
Say you have 8 patterns on top and bottom then you add patterns on the sides you will actually end up with 16patterns on each axis. That is why wraps are said to be "single" or "double", or "triple", ect..

Say you start the top at 1" from cross to cross you have the same spacing on the bottom but you start the first bottom pattern at either 1/2" or 1 1/2" so they are in the middle between the top patterns. The side patterns would also be at 1" between centers but as you go you notice you also create additional patterns on top and bottom as well in the middle of the others.

Clear as mud right?

Eventually, all things merge, and a river runs through it..

Thank you Raymond.

A very helpful answer I think. If I understand, the top pattern starts at 1.0. The bottom at 0.5. The side patterns to fit in between would start at 0.25 and 0.75.

Am off to give it a try.

i really want to understand the learning curve here. I just started trying to build rods. How long have you been doing this? I THINK i understand the math, but that is about it

I have made maybe 15 dec wraps that turned out successfully and another 10 that looked like a dog's breakfast! Was rather lost at first. Reading on this site was very helpful. Buying Billy Vivona's book from a sponsor to the right was a real help in my over all understanding.
