I`ve used flexcoat with no problem for many years.Recently I noticed the resin part came out of a half empty 16 oz. bottle somewhat cloudy. When I mixed it with the hardener it was rather milky looking. I mixed it well and thought nothing of it. It was also milky when I applied it to the rod. After 6 hours on the rod dryer it was still tacky.I never had this problem before. The first half of the 32oz. kit had no problems .Now this. What could be wrong. The same syringes were used all along Re: Flex Coat issues

The resin can be prone to crystalizing in colder temps. You may be experiencing the early stages of that.

A couple of months ago I experienced the same problem, though with a further twist. The resin part (so far as I recall) was not only cloudy, but in fact more gel-like. After initial panic I put the two bottles in hot water and hey presto! It worked and has been fine ever since. Admittedly, I hadn't used the finish for maybe half a year (if not more). Good luck with yours.

Peter:
Tom is right on, my work shop is in a basement and only heated when I work there. The Flexcoat resin sometimes developes a milkey look or becomes solid, I put the resin bottle in hot water, and the resin is good to go, I never had any problems with the mixture remaining tacky. I try to keep the drying temp. about 65 degrees or better. Rich Kline Custom Rods Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
