Dale Clemens 4oz Spool Carriage Question
Posted by: Andrew McDermott (---.hsd1.ma.comcast.net)

Does anyone here have or use the Dale Clemens 4oz spool carriage?
Trying to get information on the thread routing pattern off the spool thru the vertical posts to the upper arm.
Thanks in advance!

Sorry, I don't have one, but it is easy to transfer thread from a 4oz. spool onto a 1 oz. spool. Just chuck the 1oz into the lathe head on a properly fitted dowel or piece of rod blank, then feed the thread onto it for whatever amount you wish. done it many times, and works great.

The Renzetti one is different Ross. Randolph, yes I know that can be done, acquired this carriage awhile back and just trying to use it the proper way!

The routing of the thread is pretty straight forward. I think what you are looking for is how the thread comes off the spool. I have found that if you look at the spool from the spool side once mounted in the thread carriage that the thread flows off the spool a little smoother if it comes from the spool bottom which would be clockwise and then thru the guides out to the rod. Sorry if this just a bit confusing but if you try both ways you may realize what I am trying to picture.
