If anyone has built on this blank please let me know what you used it for and how you find the actual power/action. In my past experience with Lamiglas XMG blanks blanks I found that the line /lure weight ratings can be deceptive. Im looking to build a nice lightweight spinning rod Preferable mediumish power and relatively fast action used for swimming 1/4oz grubs and shaky heads. Need to have enough backbone to get get a hook in em...
Thanks for any help. -Mike Re: Anyone used a Lamiglas XMG LGC-LP842

Was used in the XPS702X dropshot rod if that helps, I believe it held a 6 to 10 lb rating as a factory rod. Messed with a custom rod built on the blank on the Umpqua River fishing for smallmouth, some years ago, with jigworm and splitshot/worm presentations, great rod. Even appeared to work well throwing AC Shiners. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 03/11/2014 11:58PM by Spencer Phipps. Re: Anyone used a Lamiglas XMG LGC-LP842

My opinion is that it is little light in power for a 1/4 ounce. I throw mostly 1/16 and 1/8 with mine. Also, I think you would want a little more muscle for setting the hook on a shakey head, especially jig heads with heavier hooks. Re: Anyone used a Lamiglas XMG LGC-LP842

did a lp843 for shaky heads a couple years back. Extremely fast and very powerful. The tip section is very small.. Mine is missing said tip section after swinging a 2lb bass into the boat. Loved the blank but only used it 3 times. Now using a mhx 941 cut off to 7'4". It is very similar in action and power. Swung a 4lb spotted bass in the boat with it and it didn't blink.
