I have turned the handle parts and am ready for glue up. I have only recently started using this product. On my last handle I applied the permagloss and when glueing the handle it dulled up the finish where ever the epoxy touched the permagloss. I had let the handle set over night after application of the permagloss. I am wondering if I did not let it cure long enough or if this is just a don't do (apply the finish first then glue up). I like the idea of applying the finish before glue up to not get epoxy on the bare wood. Thanks for any help, just trying to not learn something the hard way.

Another day wouldn't hurt, but it sounds like more care needs to be taken in the glue up process. After cleaning up the excess epoxy with a dry paper towel, wipe the area with a little DNA, then another dry wipe. Epoxy adhesive is not crystal clear and any residue on your treated wood surface will show up if not properly cleaned.

Don't understand why the epoxy is ever touching the handle finish? If there are areas that it may happen, covering them with masking tape (if possible) should solve.

I'm not too sure of exactly what you are doing? I build my grips on a mandrel and finish with Permagloss, it does have to have a good 24 hrs. to dry before I glue the grips to the blank. I usually glue up my grips and reel seat at the same time. I use a paste epoxy and try not to get any on the outside of my set up. If any does, I clean up with denatured alcohol before it has a chance to dry. If you leave it on to dry you will have to refinish as it isn't going to come off
