old rod clean up

I was given a old rod , it has some realy nice thred work on it . The rod was built back in "78". The finish was cracking and I was able to pick at it and remove it . I would like to clean the threads and bring it back to life. any idea on how or what to do will be appreciated. thanks. Re: old rod clean up

Cleaning the thread work without loosening and having it come apart might be difficult. If it was regular thread originally, it should probably be coated with another coat of color preserver to prevent discoloration when it gets recoated with thread finish. Re: old rod clean up

I agree with Ross. Couple of coats of CP should do it just fine. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
