Anybody have your own blanks built?

I'm wondering if anybody out there has had blanks custom rolled for them. It's something I'm looking into as 95% of my business is musky rods and there just isn't much out there for musky blanks. Lamiglas and Batson both got out of the musky game last year and the options are severely limited.
I'd prefer to have it done by an American company. Can anyone offer me some insite/advice? I'm only looking to have two blank models made, a jerkbait rod and an all-purpose rod for bucktails and crankbaits. PS. I have been attempting to talk to Lamiglas but their communication has been infrequent and vague. thanks, jeremy Re: Anybody have your own blanks built?

Jeremy,
A local shop herein Minneapolis has St. Croix make rods for them. They start with the stock St. Croix blank and have changes made just for them; including a custom color on the rod. Top notch rods and the company makes money on them. I believe that they buy something like 100-500 blanks at a time. Re: Anybody have your own blanks built?

Talk to the guy at Hyrdra Fishing. Last I heard he was having a line of blanks made here in the USA and might be able to interact for you in having some made. Re: Anybody have your own blanks built?

A lot will depend on the quantity that you wish to have made. Most companies will have a minimum number that they will make a special run for. Re: Anybody have your own blanks built?

Hi Jeremy
I had Blanks made before, it is usualy 100 per model. It can get pretty costly, Batson or MHX will make a blank for you but as I said minimum is around 100 { I had 20 models built for my specs). Best Regards Mark Crouse Re: Anybody have your own blanks built?

Just curious. When you say "have someone make a blank"....am I correct in assuming it must be someone they already have a mandrel for? Or are there some that will design a mandrel and lay up the fibers/layers and resins to your specs (without having to buy well over a 100 blanks). Russ in Hollywood, FL. Jeremy -
Sent you an email. It definitely falls into our line of work. We have capabilities stateside that the import companies don't. We don't list a lot of details online because typically these type of requests require some exchange of information to make sure of the need. Roger, I'm very familiar with Thorne Bros Predator blanks, I've built several rods on them and have been very impressed. However, their price point is on the extreme high end, they are by far the most expensive blanks out there (at least from a wholesale price point).
I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who took the time to reply. I'm still open to any thoughts and suggestions anyone may have. jeremy Re: Anybody have your own blanks built?

If you can't find a Musky blank below - you can alter one to your liking. And they will do one, or any number of blanks if you wish.
This is from the CTS website. Not U.S. - but at least not the Orient. Herb,
Thanks for taking the time to list CTS's info for me but those blanks aren't even close to what I'm looking for. I need rods in the 9' range capable of throwing baits that weigh 1/2 a pound or more. thanks, jeremy Re: Anybody have your own blanks built?

J,
Any of those can be bumped-up in power if you wish. But I think, from experience, those numbers are conservative. Herb Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
