Hi,
Has anyone built or fished on the St Croix 5S610MXF-B blank? St Croix lists its use for shaky head fishing. I'm wondering how it will work for fishing plastics and drop shotting. thanks, Mike Re: St Croix 5S610MXF-B

Funny you should bring this up. I spoke with St. Croix last week about the difference between the 5S610MXF-B and 5S610MLXF-B. The one you're looking at was specifically designed for the shaky head technique and has a very narrow lure weight range 1/8 to 5/16. The drop shot rod (5S610MLXF-B) is designed to have a lure weight range of 1/8 to 1/2. Depending on what lure size or weights you are planning on using you should be able to make the best choice. Chester May your line be tight and your beverages be cold! Re: St Croix 5S610MXF-B

I use my 610mxf for tubes. I use the 610mlxf for dropshotting. Re: St Croix 5S610MXF-B

i found the 610MXF very stiff and heavier in power than the 68MXF and the 69MLXF (now the 610MLXF;not sure if any difference other than the extra inch). For me the 68MXF was a great all purpose plastics blank in the 1/8-1/4 range and I fished alot of tubes on it. The 69MLXF is a good dropshot rod and i would also use it for nose hooked weiightless plastics and hairjigs. For what you're looking for i'd go with the 5S68MXF Re: St Croix 5S610MXF-B

Thank you for the responses. I imagine a light tip and a ton of backbone with this blank. I'll have to see how the blank feels when it comes, was too good a deal to pass up. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
