Alps TexTouch Casting Reel Seats
Posted by: Ray Cates (162.94.28.---)

Now that these have been out for a while I was wondering what everyone thinks about them. I have been a big fan of the Castaway seats in the past and wanted to get some opinions on these. I am mostly a bass guy and only build rods for my son and me. Are you keeping the seats in tact or are you splitting them? How do you like the Texalium inserts? Do they really add sensitivity?

Thank you,

Ray

So far I have really enjoyed them. I have only fished with them 2 days on the water, and on the larger sizes they don't come with the insert. They palm easily and are very comfortable, i have yet to fish one with the insert so I can't comment on the sensitivity specifically. So far they are my new go to reel seat.

I love the look of these but they seem hard to find. Even harder is the MVT ones which look pretty special. If anyone knows where I source the MVT ones please let me know.
Thanks.

Anyone have an idea on the weight of the casting seat with or without the insert? Also, can it be mounted without arbors, similar to the acs and/or ecsm? Just wanting to know if it comparable in weight to an ecsm.

Bill, it's the one referred to in the title if this thread. You can see it in the Batson catalog on their website.

Steve, thanks for your reply, I had seen your post previously but hadn't heard much about the seat since it was released.

With out a doubt my favorite reel seat is the new Batson trigger seat.
But sadly it will not be on the market until they debut it at the ICAST show.

With the exception of maybe trimming some of the lock down threads off to shorten there barrel a tad, (like I do on all reel seats) .
It is the first seat I've had my hands on that is perfect right out of the pack.

This is his link batson makes several trigger seats

I will not Partake in this @#$%& Contast have a nice DAY

Bill
Ray is correct. " it's the one referred to in the title if this thread. You can see it in the Batson catalog on their website."

At the time I made the original post the seat had not been given an official name yet. You can find it on page 12 of Batson's online catalog.

The seats aren't much heavier than a comparable size reel seat. I wish I had a scale as I have a size 12.5 next to me. No arbor is needed to mount. I put a few pictures up of a Tex Touch I wrapped a few months ago in the link below. In terms of comfort, its pretty darn comfy IMO. We have them but are in the middle of revamping the website!
