as i perused the sponsors to the left i came across 2 high modulus mhx dropshot blanks a 6-10" and a 7-1" that according to them weigh 1.3 and 1.1 ounces respectively . surely this is a mistake as both blanks have over a half an inch butt measurement. but if this is true i will be ordering tomorrow.

Butt diameter has little to do with blank weight, for the same amount of graphite used the larger diameter blank will be stiffer and more powerful.

i knew the weights couldn't be right as they had the longer blank lighter. i like when a blank company has nothing to hide and list their blank weights but i now wonder if any of the weights listed on their site are true

I have found St. Croix to be pretty close. Much closer than this anyway.

Robert
Not sure where you got your information but I just went online to the Mud Hole website and under the MHX Hi Mod drop shot rods it lists the 7'1" rod as 1.75 oz. So Scott your scale is spot on.

I have built a good number of these rods and my sustomers are extremely pleased with them, especially if you use titanium guides.

Phenix IF-711-1 is a 7'1" blank at 1.0 ounces. It will work great for dropshot technique. Only $219.00.

whats the deal with the iron feather 711 tip as they provide you with it, because its so small? did they have to make their own tip for the blank hence the price? i wonder if its a solid tip like the old clemens perigee blanks
