I recently bought some polyester embroidery thread in several twist colors. On a sample blank I tried each color with CP and then finish, urethane and then finish, and finish alone. To my surprise the only samples that repelled the finish were the ones with CP. I used 2 flood coats and let them dry overnight before applying the finish. Has this happened to any of you . I used a very popular brand of CP that I have had about 2 years. Is there a shelf life on CP. What brand CP do you that use it a lot prefer. Any help appreciated. Re: color preserver problem

I have experienced what you had happen with flood coats of chromaseal. If I put on just enough to soak the threads, it was fine. Re: color preserver problem

Thanks Scott, That is exactly the case. I,ll try again , before using on a rod, with less CP. How many coats of chromaseal do you use? Re: color preserver problem

2. Put it on thick and wick most of it off. WHen it dries put another coat on, and wick it all off. YOu don't need 6 coats of CP, you don't need to thin it, it's really a simple thin gto use CP but people do a lot of uneccesary things because they are so scared of having a disaster Re: color preserver problem

2 coats is all you need. When I feel the desire to use CP, I do just as billy said.....put it on and wick it off with a paper towel. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
