Blanks are just tubular shafts. They have no idea what you're using them for. Select what you need based on your length, power, action, etc., criteria and don't worry too much about how category listing on the blank.

Glen,
Just as a point in passing, most commercial spin casting blanks use a classic spinning blank. i.e. they tend to run a bit lighter in action than the comparable casting blank. But, of course for some manufacturers, there is 0 difference between any blank. i.e. a 6'm blank, is just that. No difference between a casting or spinning blank. Many of the blanks which claim to be specialized for specific uses, "short lip crankbait blanks" for example, differ from other blanks more in marketing claims and less in performance. Re: casting blank vers spin cast blank

I think Tom and Phil both hit it right on. I have not found any blanks yet that are the same in CCS numbers when comparing them in the same line by two of the companies I build on though, I am sure there are probably some out there. I am in the process of switching over all my tourney rods to two piece to save space in the boat and I am running into two piece rods of the brands I want are quite a bit different in power than the one piece versions I have. It appears I may have to step up in power on the two piece blanks to get what I have in one piece. Thanks much to Dr. Hanneman or it might have taken me years to figure that one out!!!
