In tubular I like Seeker's stuff. Not sure anyone makes any solid glass blanks anymore. They'd be heavy if so but not sure if there is any such animal these days. Re: heavy salt rod

Hello Bill.
If you want short it's a Pac Bay 5'6" 80-130# PBX II: X2G56XXH, If you want long it's a 7' Super Seeker: SS3X5, 80#-Unlimited. If you want stand-up in an 80#+(which is dangerous) it's a PBX II: X2ST56XXH-B, 5'6" 60-130# or a 5'6" 50(80)130# Seeker "E" Glass/Boron Stand-Up Tuna: S655XXH. There are more choices if you give more info to zero in (Stand-Up, Chair, Wire, Trolling, Chunking, Kite...) on just what you need?!. Tight Wraps. Bob, New Bern, NC. Re: heavy salt rod

What is the bent butt 80 being used for? Know some swordfish guys who like to fish the bent butts with electric reels down deep. We have 80's on some of our high speed Wahoo planer rods but these tend to be short. We troll for marlin, tuna with stand up gear being 6-6 1/2' and chair rods being 6 1/2 to 7'. Calstar, Seeker, Lamiglas and Batson all make good blanks but all ahve their subtle differences. Re: heavy salt rod

Thanks for all the info guys
I was wondering if any of the Aluminum butts I should stay away from They all tend to say the same thing about themselves Yet the prices vary greatly Do any of you go for price or is the quality different between them If the quality is the same Depending on how much the customer wants to spend Bill - willierods.com Re: heavy salt rod

I like the pac bay aluminum. I don't see enough difference between them and the others to constitute the extra expense. Have built several aliuminum butt rods for stand up/trolling tuna no one has complained. I think the difference in price has to do with manufacturing costs and china has cheaper labor than US or Italy. I could b wrong though Re: heavy salt rod

That is why it is all built overseas Cheaper labor Then like others I look at the name brands and the Double cost Got me nervous Bill - willierods.com Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
