Mudhole, worth the visit?

We may be in the Orlando area soon and thought about going over to Mudhole. Isit worth the drive or am I just as good with the catalog. Not that I need a ton of stuff so it may be more of a "kick the tires" visit. Or is there more to see than the catalog?

You may actually see more in the catalog than you will in their showroom, however, there is a great deal to be said for being able to actually see, touch, feel, etc., the items you're interested in, not to mention being able to talk to someone on the floor there.

If you're traveling in from any distance and it's only a short distance out of your way, it almost doesn't make sense not to pay them a visit.

I live in Iowa so when I was in Tampa last spring I made the drive over to visit Mudhole. It was great to see, feel, and touch the items you are interested in. It was also great to put a face to the voices you talk to when you call their office.

And I was hoping you guys were going to say they have a whole back room full of one of a kind/overstock/blems/closeout blanks at prices too good to advertise.

Mudhole does have a "bargain corner" in their main showroom where they frequently have wonderful prices on blanks and components.

Im only about an hour away and just made my first trip over last week. I only went in the main showroom, so to me it was really disappointing because I dont know why but I expected a home depot of rod building where I could play with everything. Mainly just alot of mhx blanks to feel up on the main floor and display cases look like handles and such direct from the catalog. If you do go then make sure you get a full tour or you may leave wanting more like I did.

If you go make sure you also hit up Get Bit Outdoors. Less than 5 minutes from Mudhole. Neither showroom is overwhelming but it's nice to be able to put your hands on some stuff that you may have wondered about.

Gary - yes we think it would be worth a visit! Our warehouse is the largest in the world at 15,000 sq-ft and we stock 45,000 SKU's of everything we sell for you to touch and feel - no where else in the world can you see so much rod building and tackle crafting components under one roof - in fact you could combine several other vendors whole shops and not come close. Our public showroom area is 2,000 sq-ft and is staffed by our sales teams and designed to show off common items in display cases and popular blanks. If you visit, be sure and tell the sales person you are visiting from out of town and would like a tour of the main warehouse (which is normally off limits to customers) they will be happy to give you a guided tour. PS - ask them for a FREE T-Shirt too as a souvenir of your visit.

While our catalog is organized and provides detailed descriptions, a tour of our warehouse will provide you with hands on understanding of some components, touch and feel blanks, depth of our inventory and an understanding of how your order is pulled-packed-shipped. Seeing a photo of a power wrapper is one thing, seeing pallets of power wrappers and parts is another - seeing 16ft high shelves stocked to the brim with inventory, or 6,000 SKUs of thread in racks is humbling, or orders being pulled via picking carts while bar-coded and placed on a conveyor belt for shipment is something you will have to see to appreciate and understand the care that goes into processing your order.

The link below will provide you with directions and hours of operation, we hope to see you soon:

Orlando to oviado is not next door. I lived in florida for years. Depending where you are in Orlando and the time of day you could take over an hour to get there. That said it is a cool place to visit. They do have items if you look hard that are great deals too.

I have been there. Wife's family has a house in Kissimmee. I was kind of disappointed because I was also expecting a lot more. That was my mistake, not Mudholes! I didn't say anything about being from Kentucky and visting so I didn't see everything. I will be back this summer and plan on getting back over there........and say hi this time! :)

Well the only day we were in the Mudhole area was New Years Day and they were closed. OH Well no T shirt. We did end up driving over to Merritt Island and doing a little fishing so all was not lost. fished in the morning and still had time to get back and watch Michigan State win the Rose Bowl. all in all a good day.
