Tiger wraps

Hi All

I have a quick question regarding tiger waps, (this is my 1st one) I just did the under wrap and I am not sure where to go from here. Do I use CP on the underwrap and then epoxy or do I only epoxy?? I did not use NCP thread and also when I finish the over wrap same question.

thanks Frank and I hope you all have a great XMAS

If you did not use NCP thread then yes you will need to use CP. Otherwise the necessary contrast between colors will not exist. The same goes for the overwrap.

Good luck and Merry Chrstmas

You don't need CP however, as you know, the thread colors will darken when you epoxy them.
If that's not a concern, don't use it. The important thing on the bottom layer is high contrast, like black and white, or yellow, or silver etc.
Once the sacrificial thread is removed from the top layer, whatever is left will provide the final color of the wrap.
You can epoxy this layer without CP as well, with the understanding that it too will darken a bit.

Garry, if he used black and white or yellow etc regular nylon without Cp would it not negate the contrast??? Black and Silver, no problem. Just asking because I have wrapped alot of these and have never tried it without Cp. You may have given me a project for today.

White and yellow do become somewhat translucent, and can look a little grey, unless you spray that area of the blank with white paint first.
I once bought a dozen rod kits. Each kit came with a spool of brown or blue thread and a spool of either silver or gold tinsel.
Consequently, I tend to use black or brown with silver or gold as my first layer...I still have 8 spools of gold, so I think this trend will continue for some time...Grin.

I always use CP on the under wrap, followed by 2 coats of epoxy. I then prefer to use a darker overwrap in which I apply epoxy directly to the thread, without CP. The darker overwrap darkens slightly, and really allows for contrast to "bleed through" from the CP'ed under wrap.
