All guides will withstand braided line. Just ask yourself why would people buy a product for about 20 years that would harm their rods, most people have no idea what guide or the quality thereof is on their rod. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 12/12/2013 10:15AM by Spencer Phipps. Re: Kigan guides

Thanks, I had never heard of Kigan guides or their material until I read about it today.

Maybe my definition of "withstand" might be different than Spencer's definition, but in a fishery that tasks equipment it takes at least a ceramic ring class of guide ring to hold up to regular heavy duty use. It's not just the braided line, but also what partciles the braided line picks up from the water it is fished in, and other factors like fish size and fishing time over the life of the rod. For example, stainless steel guides on rods in my fishery might only last 1 year of use by guys who are on the water 100+ days a year. You really need to consider the various usage factors. You'd be surprised how abrasive braided line can become from picking up particulates in some bodies of water. It sort of like people in jail who have used dental floss coated with tooth paste to cut through the steel bars of their cell. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 12/12/2013 02:28PM by John E Powell. Just for fun, take an old, cheap guide and try to grove it with a triangle file. ;) _________________________________________ "Angling is extremely time consuming. That's sort of the whole point." - Thomas McGuane Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 12/12/2013 01:44PM by Chuck Mills. Re: Kigan guides

I think you can say all modern ceramic guides will withstand braided line, but you certainly can't say "all guides" and lump every one of them into that category.
As to the OP...I'm confident that Kigan guides can handle braid since they are ceramic. Re: Kigan guides

If they didn't I would personally be in a world of hurt. 80% of my deck is spooled with braid. They do great with monofilament and fluorocarbon lines too - just to clarify. I use almost exclusively Kigan and can vouch that they hold up very well to braid and superlines. I use Coalite rings mostly and some Zirconia. 99% of my builds get Kigan guides with coalite rings. Excellent guides. David Dosser Coshocton, OH Re: Kigan guides
