the snake skin shop has many and has had a booth at the ICRBE for years. great people to work with. otherwise most leather shops can help or you can skin and tan your own. Re: Snake Skin

Hey Gerald,
The latest place I purchased rattlesnake skins was Pine Hollow Longbows at (pinehollowlongbows.com/Snakeskins.html). I specified smaller skins for custom rods and gave him a dollar amount I wished to spend and wanted him to include a copperhead skin that he said he had. When I received the order, it had 9 rattlesnake skins and TWO copperhead skins, all in excellent shape and about 24-30" long - all for $139.00 including shipping. The size was perfect for normal sized rods in the freshwater class with small scales and patterns. These were perfectly air dried, very thin but not fragile, and I immediately placed one on a 2-6# ultra light spinning rod I had on the bench. With air dried skins, I undercoat with a high quality flat white paint which allows the real colors to show. Then I coat with at least 4 coats of CP and finish as normal. Give them a try.
