You'll come closer looking at some 7', 2-piece models and taking a foot off the butt section. Nothing wrong with an offset ferrule if the angler can still handle the longest section. Find one with a little more power than you need since you'll be cutting it back some.

Bill,
CTS - of course. Spinning or conventional?? I assume it is for boat use. Stripers are my passion. Is this for saltwater stuff - or the "new(ish) hybrid stuff in lakes??

hay Herb

As far as I understand it is Saltwater - boat - fluke and striper's most everything starts at 7' one piece Unless i cut a 7' maybe lighter ( not sure of lure weight ) trim the tip and butt
I have seen a CRB Vertical Jigging at Mud-hole but it is a moderate action I'm thinking to soft

I am trying to talk him into at least a 7' blank

Bill,
if it's a boat rod for the salt - for fluke, stripers - my bet it is for jigging.
Consider the CTS Elite Slow Jig blank

Can get it in 2 pc, 6'
Line, Lure weights, Power:
EM601-2, 4-8#, 1/4oz, Med/Light
EM662-2, 6-12#, 1/8-1/2oz, Med/Lite
EM663-2, 8-14#, 1/4-1/2oz, Med.
EM664-2, 10-17#, 1/2-7/8oz, Med/heavy
EM665-2, 12-20#, 1/2-1oz, Heavy

It would help to know what kind of current and water depth to know jig size. For use in the bays - maybe the Med/Heavy. But if "outside" in deep water - maybe the Heavy. But customer will know.
Regards,
Herb

Thanks Ron
But
This is the thing The guy wants to have a rod that is NOT recommended for the fish
he wants to fish fluke and strippers Fluke got to be 150 ft plus of water So he may ( have not gotten it yet ) use at least 4 - 5 oz weight ( He did not tell me yet ) to get there and stay where the fish are maybe more
He has not answered my last email guess he gave up But it was like pulling teeth get info
I don't like trimming a blank ( There Goes Any Warranty ) and if he overweights the rod and points it up breaks the tip off I should fix it

I think I am better off letting him go
