Stripper Guide on a Micro Build

Hi All,

I am going to try the Mudhole Nano guides. Less than 3mm diameter. I was wondering what are most people doing for a double foot stripper guide? I want to use the smallest stripper guide possible. Can you use a single foot but just extend the distance from the reel down the blank?

The rod if for my own fun personal use. Its a 6' 8" Shimano Compre I am re-building. I am not looking for the most technically advanced setup. I just want the look of almost no guides on the rod.

Thanks.

With the exception of pitching and flipping sticks.
I use 5mm (some times 6mm)single foot guides on all rods. I build all my rods spiral, and if you want your rod to be " the most technically advanced setup." you will build yours spiral as well.

Ive built several rods with all #4s noticed minimal difference. Just push your stripper guide a little more than usual.

Hi all,

Thanks for the feedback! Really helped.

Steve I plan to build a Musky Trolling rod next. I would like to try a spiral for that. Any issues with a spiral wrap for trolling?

Thanks

I don't do any trolling. But build spiral rods using micro guides on everything up to 80 lb braid throwing 8 oz Alabama rigs.

I do know a few people who use spiral setups in salt water applications for really big fish, and one of the benefits is that the rod is much more stable. Allowing them to use their energy's to fight the fish with out have to fight the rod and reel trying to twist over on them.

So I would think the same benefit would apply to trolling.

I would spiral wrap the rod IMHO
