Roddy rod and reel

Yesterday while visiting my dentist he asked me to look at and clean up an old rod and reel. Figuring to recoup a little of the cost to repair a crown I said, sure. He handed me a Roddy Custom Rod, 5 1/2 foot fiberglass rod with guides that look like recoil casting guides. There was no model number on the blank. The blank glued into the front of the reel seat . On the rod was a Roddymatic 601-B reel. A search of the internet turned up nothing but I did find some parts for a 601-B on a buying/selling form. My question is have any of you seen this before and is there any antique value to it? It looks cheap and probably made in the 1960's. The reel seat needs a new paint job and new cork for the handle. The reel cleaned up really good for the age. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Howard,
What ever the rework on the rod and reel, it sounds to me like it needs about $1500 worth of work.

Be safe

There is some very minor collector value, but I'd doubt that whatever you charge him for the required repairs would automatically put the rod in a position where it's worth more than he has in it. And, of course, the amount of work to fix up a cheap rod is the same as that required to fix up an expensive rod. So he'll just have to decide how bad he wants the rod back in pristine condition.
