I own a Sage CT 290 Rod Blank which I’ve build for spinning . Since now I’m in loved with this rod I’m looking for it’s big brother CT 490 which I’m planning to use on European catfish fishing . The rod specs are the following : 9†in length , 3/8 -1 ½ casting weight and 12-25 lbs line rating . It’s a two piece rod blank which is no longer produced by Sage so, I’m also interested in an equivalent blank with similar action and power transfer available on the market today. Can anybody help? Answers from people ho actually had the chance to fish or at least hold one CT 490 will be most welcomed. kingofbeasts custom rods Re: Sage CT 490 or an equivalent rod blank

This info is a year old, but Sage builds the same exact blanks on the same exact graphite for Bob Babcock in Canada. He sells them through a small selection of shops though out Canada. The Sage 490 blank is unique in it's action as far as most salmon blanks go, if you took the action of the Batson IST 1085 and just beefed everything up proportionally to a 12-25 lb. blank you would be close, most salmon blanks the tip is too stiff, which gives them a more moderate action. Talon made a very similar blank years ago couldn't find the info this morning due to a complete lack of coffee.
Sea-Run Fly and Tackle was one of the shops that had them. www.searuntackle@telus.net 1 (604) 931-5044 Hope this helps. Edited 4 time(s). Last edit at 11/12/2013 10:30AM by Spencer Phipps. Re: Sage CT 490 or an equivalent rod blank

Hi Carol
Spencer is correct about Sage still making blanks for myself (Brian not Bob). I did not, however, get CT490's made. But the good news is, I do have one left. If you contact the store Spencer listed above, they can help you out. Thanks. Brian Re: Sage CT 490 or an equivalent rod blank
