Has anyone used the Sulky Polylite threads for rod building?

G'Day Don 60 weight embroidery thread might be a bit thin for binding guides as all the builders I know use 40 weight & even that is thinner than "A" thread .It should be fine for DEC.Wraps it will take you longer to fill a long wrap .Also there could be a problem with silicon on the thread which could cause you "Fish Eyes" in your epoxy a work around if this happens is to put a piece of the thread in the epoxy mix(This is supposed to break the surface tension in the epoxy).I have used embroidery thread for around the last 8 years with no problems & a lot of other rod builders use it also

slightly off topic, but I've had luck with Mattler's polysheen. huge color range.

Does the Mettler polysheen require color preserver?

Don in my opinion it's safer to use CP on any embroidery thread due to the silicon.I am sure there others who don't use it & have no problem I've never had a problem but I've also used CP all the time & I don,t want to take a chance of a problem

I've used polysheen both with and without CP.
it reacts perfectly well to CP, and I think it's a classic thread for wrapping-- I'm not 100% sure though.

here you have a build I did with Polysheen Golden Grain (941), 2 coats of CP and 4 coats of Permagloss.

without CP, I haven't had any silicone related problem, but maybe I was just lucky. I used Polysheen in Rust (1342)
