Hi All
Looking to purchase a 9' 9wt 4 piece MHX blank from MH. The reel seat I have in mind is the CL7 aluminum Pac Bay seat. The butt of the blank's outside diameter is 0.43" (10.922 mm) and the reel seat's inside diameter is 0.455* (11.55 mm). This basically leaves a 0.6 mm gap. Would you say this is too tight a fit, or just right? Should I go up to the CL8 which has an inside diameter of 0.549* (13.95 mm)? Any comments on that reel seat in general? Thanks Dave Re: Would this reel seat fit on this blank (9' 9wt fly )

how will the reel fit that is also the question, I would look at that also , figure what reel you want an try it , most large rods need a large reel for the ballance William Sidney AK Re: Would this reel seat fit on this blank (9' 9wt fly )

They're good reel seats. The CL7 reel seat is pretty small, I think the CL8 will have better proportions when you have a big reel on it. That said, all my fly reels have about the same size reel foot from the 2/3 to the 9/10 so they fit on both the CL7 & CL8. Greg Aptos, CA Re: Would this reel seat fit on this blank (9' 9wt fly )

I would use the 8 on a build of that size, but either would work. Ron Weber Re: Would this reel seat fit on this blank (9' 9wt fly )

For a #9 rod I use a REC RSLL which has an IO of about 15.9mm
11mm is kind of skimpy. Herb Re: Would this reel seat fit on this blank (9' 9wt fly )
