Static deflection on a baitcaster

How do I do a static deflection test on a bait casting rod?
When I tried it right now and added load (hope I'm using the term correctly), the last five or six guides all went to the bottom of the rod.
To get set up for my test I used surgical tubing to anchor the guides in place then I wrapped some 1/4" tape around them as added security.
Obviously that didn't help.
What am I doing wrong? How do I do a static deflection test on a bait casting rod?
Many thanks.
John M.

John,
You must be running a line through the unwrapped guides.

As Mr. Kirkman suggests, simply glue on the tip and tie a line onto the secure tip. No need to run a line through the non wrapped guides.

Be safe

You do not put pressure on the guides

You tie a line to the GLUED tip top as said

Then put a line thought the guides with maybe a large nut tied to it Only to put SLIGHT tension on the line to keep it streight

May your line be tight and your beverages be cold!

Thanks for asking the question John M. I'm just getting started with my first rod build and am sure I'd have done the same thing as you. :)
I've been reading books, watching DVDs, and lurking here for quite a while. I'm learning a TON.

At least you have about 70% of a spiral wrap figured out if you want to try one later.
