Experience with any of these products?

I have used the West epoxy products before with great success.
Has any one used the US composites materials.

I would think that these products would work very very well for carbon grips, as well as doing glue ups for reel seats and grips onto blanks.

Thoughts?

Thanks for your help.

If you read the original articles on the foam core, carbon fiber grips, then you remember this is the foam and the supplier listed in the article.

I believe Mike Pedersen at Riley Rods has since packaged the foam and related components in smaller quantities for those who don't need the larger amounts. There is a shelf life on the foam, both once opened and unopened.

Roger,

Several years ago, I put a new transom in my boat. I bought all my epoxy, glass mat, tools and other supplies from them. They were very helpful and friendly during several phone conversations. Have not used the products related to any rod building activities but the transom is still attached to the boat.

Yes - I do a lot of work with US Composites Epoxies. It is a good quality product, but you need to be aware that it is higher blushing than West Systems, and the cure times are typically longer than West Systems - both Slow and Fast. The viscosity is lower than West System, so it doesn't fill gaps as well, but works great.

Blush is not an issue if you clean it up - a little soap and water will remove it, then you can sand the grip before final finish.

They also make a very nice thick epoxy - not as thick as pro-paste or rod bond, but thicker than Devcon 5 minute epoxy. I regularly use it for glue-ups
