Hi, Im trying to put together a trolling fishing pole for tuna up to 100 pounds, I will be using a 50 trolling reel. 100 spectra backup, and a top shot of 60 mono. It will be used mainly in party boats in CA. In this kind of application, when a tuna bite on trolling, the next part of the game is try to catch them on live bait, what kind of fishing pole to use for the same kind of fish with live bait?
Thanks.
Santiago

If you go to the web site for the boat you are going on you should be able to find a list of suggested tackle. Then get the blank numbers for the ones you want. Trolling and throwing bait will not be the same blank. I would suggest a Super Seeker 6463 XXH for trolling and a Super Seeker 1X3 for bait.

Thank you for your advice Jim. Could someone advice on guides for trolling and live bait rods?
Thanks

And ringed guides in spinning rod

Jim,

Have you ever tried the All American N e p t u n e Spiral Roller guides and tip on a trolling rod? Would be interested to know your thoughts. I have been hesitant to try a set as the tip is fixed and doesn't swivel. I rarely build rods of that power and don't have much experiences with them.

Very few trolling rods are built with swivel tips.
