here we go again as my dropshot rod is kaput (a kayak casualty) and i need a new spinning blank. it was an old gloomis p842 imx and i'm looking for something similar. i liked gloomis and was a big fan of shikaris so you can see my problem. i am thinking about a st croix scv5s70mf but don't know much about them. i like a rod with a lighter tip 0 to 2 power mostly. thanx in advance

I have a Croix 6'9" MLXF SCV drop shot rod and really like it. It is a ML but has plenty of mid blank power. In fact I have several St.Croix's in both M and ML power and use them a lot.

The Croix 5s610mlxf would be my choice. I believe Karen has a couple of these in stock also.

I have built a lot of the 5SC70MF and they are very nice blanks, but I think you may want extra fast for drop shot, and the MF is what I would call fast, not extra fast. If you want something that is excellent but less expensive, look at
RX8+S822.5 Rainshadow. It can be had for about $135.

I would second what Michael suggested. I have build NFC, St Croix SC4 & SC5 and Rainshadow RX8 & RX8+ 822.5 Drop-Shot Rods. Of all of these blanks, my Customers and myself prefer the Rainshadow Drop Shot Blanks over blanks costing twice as much. Build a Rainshadow 822.5 RX8 or RX8+ and you will not be disappointed!

Don't know if you had gotten your answer yet, but they are Satin Black urethane with no gloss.
