Chip/gouged epoxy

I somehow took a small chunk of epoxy from over the thread wraps on a guide, it is roughly the size of a pinhead. Would it be better to take the coat of epoxy off the thread or just scuff it up and throw a new layer of epoxy over it. I have 1 coat of prokote on it now so the place isn't too deep and the epoxy is over a year old.

Thanks,
James

I'd just scuff with grey scotchbrite and recoat.

Could I use ultrafine sandpaper instead?

Yes, but it's a little harder to do with sandpaper. If you go that route use 400 or 600 grit.
