I like to sign my rods with a quill-type pen using acrylic ink. What is the best cover coat to use? Re: signature coating

Give it a quick spray with a lacquer based hair spray. It doesn't take much and dries almost immediately. Then after 1 hour give it a coat of CP before putting on your finish. Re: signature coating

With acrylic PAINT really, I just cover with thread finish directly on the inscription. Does not smear.

X10 on Herb's comment. Just put finish over the signature.
However, I do make a point to let the finish flow over the writing and I make a point not to brush it. Also, I make sure that I don't put on an excessive amount of finish that will flow very much. Just; a bit of settling and it is fine. Re: signature coating

After it is written Dry it with a hair dryer or heat gun to make sure it is dry
No mater what is said a spray ( i have used hair spray ) Even a laquer clear to coat Do it first on a piece of scrap The finish over without a CP may smear it Bill - willierods.com Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
