I'm building a St. Croix muskie rod which has a Gloss blue pearl finish. I've looked at several color threads but can't find anything that jumps out at me. I figure there has been many build on this blank so any suggestions or pics would sure be a help with my decision. Thanks in advance. Re: Color of wraps for a St. Croix rod

One color combo that comes to mind and might work depending on your preference could be a deep purple NCP with light blue trim/inlay Re: Color of wraps for a St. Croix rod

Howard,
For these rods, I always like to use matching blue nylon with no cp so the wraps disapper and then use metallic silver and metallic royal blue trim with silver guides. Silver and blue is always a winning and royal color combination. Be safe Re: Color of wraps for a St. Croix rod

Thanks guys, the garnett and the pearl interest me. I think I'll order a spool of pearl and see what it looks like. I got a big muskie trip planed for November to Cave Run Lake here in eastern Kentucky. What an exciting fish to catch!

Pearl is a nice bright white so when wrapping this color be sure to keep your hands and fingers as clean as possible to avoid soiling the color. Also, coat the thread as soon as possible so that dust and dirt does not settle on the thread before coating.
Unless it is NCP or metallic, you will want to use CP with the color to avoid fading of the color. Be safe Re: Color of wraps for a St. Croix rod

I match the blank aswell with silver or neon green trims. I always use titanium or chrome guides.
Hats off to St Croix every sc4 in pearl blue I have built has an absolutely flawless finish and they just oooze quality I know its a little thing but I like how they protect the tip with those little caps aswell. The garnet without CP comes out a rich black cherry color that works wonderfully on the Rainshadow titanium finish and any black or charcoal blank. With silver metallic trim. It may also look good on the blue- just wind a section onto the blank and touch it with alcohol to see the color. It would not be my obvious choice, but it might come off well, and it is sort of unusual. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
