Hey, I know I asked this in my salmon rod components post, but it is driving me crazy... I know they used to be available, but I can't find them anywhere.... blue framed spinning rod guides.

I found an old post referencing American Tackle GZBS... It also said Baston and forecast made them? Why in the world can I not find any, ANY!!!! at all? the best I could find were just blue ring!?!?!

Does anyone know if there is a manufacturer that still makes them, or do any sponsors have any old stock?

Colored guide rings and frames were a bit of a fad. Dealers didn't like them for the most part as it required them to stock so many more SKUs. Nobody could stock every color offered in every model so back orders were extensive.

If you check the catalogs of the major distributors you may find some blue colored guides. I'd opt for using the best guide for the application and then using blue thread to get the color combination I'm after.

Mudhole has red, purple and green framed guides but no blue that I could see.
PacBay and others have PVD coated Blue Titanium Nitride rings, but I haven't seen a blue framed guide for sale.

And like the other Mudhole colors mentioned they are a poor saltwater choice. Also the rings were gold.

Don't remember Batson ever making blue framed guides. I remember Pac Bay making blue fly wire guides, but not the blue framed ceramics.

Josh you could be thinking of the blue inserts that were very popular when they first came out but the frames were all black or chrome color. Mud hole is the only distributor offering different frame colors that I know of.

Five, six, seven years or so ago, American Tackle offered blue framed guides with a gold ring. The guides were dis-continued several years back. They have some sizes left in certain frame styles, but making complete sets may be a issue. For model, GZBS, single foot, blue frame with gold ring, they have sizes, 20, 12, 10, 8, 7 & 6. They also have model GZBV, which is a V-frame double foot guide in sizes 30, 20, 16, 12, 10 & 8. You could use one or two of the larger double foot guides and then go down to the single foot guides. Just let me know and I will gladly help you.
