Hey Greg
I've built a couple for my friends using The Batson Sw967 blank,They absolutely love how they handle the 10xd. Re: Rod for 10xd's

You may look at the ISWB965 by batson, and it can double as a A-Rig rod. I haven't built on this blank yet, but Steve Gardner recommended it for when A-rigs came out. I've used a blank similar to this by batson, but it was stiffer than the ISWB965 because the angler wanted a stiffer tip. Re: Rod for 10xd's

I haven’t used a 10XD, but I have used a RF Elite 806 S-glass on Douglas to long line a Hot Lips. With 300yards of 8lb fluorocarbon I was able to get almost 35ft deep, the 806 had plenty of backbone to handle that so I am sure it would be OK for a 10XD. Re: Rod for 10xd's

I haven't thrown a 10xd, but I'm wondering if it will be too much weight to cast for a RFE 806, I've got the blank but haven't used it yet. I built a castaway 965 for a guy two years ago for dd22s. He tried using that blank for the 10xd. I told him I didn't think it would cast as well, but that it would handle the bait in the water. My understanding is the 10xd does not pull much more than the dd22. After he fished the 10xd, he said the blank was fine with the bait in the water and pulling, but on casting, he couldn't just whip it out there like a normal crankbait. With that said, he did say that the 10xd was getting as far out there as his regular crankbaits.
I'm just wondering if it will be the same thing with the RFE 806. I also wonder how the T1 would do for the 10xd and the new lucky craft coming out that's huge. Unfortunately I'm not getting much time on the water or building this year because of work so I haven't got to test anything. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 07/24/2014 08:05PM by Jeremy Reed.
