Finish for Metallic Rod Thread

I am looking for a finish for Metallic Rod Thread that will retain the bright finish that is there after wrapping on a rod.
I am losing most of it after applying the Epoxy. Color Preserver doesn't work. Help!

Try Perma Gloss or Lumiseal. Both allow the bright colors to shine through.

Ted what are you using? I use ThreadMaster light and am very happy with metallic thread colors after two coats on it.

Since he brought it up. What is the best Epoxy out there and why? I use Flex coat. I am curious what everyone thinks.

The best one is the one you are most comfortable using. They all act a little different but all work well.

Buzz: I am using ProKote and I am very happy with it but had trouble with the gold Metallic thread.

Ditto on the ProKote. I love the working time and clarity....bubble free! I usually apply one to two coats of Perma Gloss and then a couple of coats of the ProKote and the wraps look fantastic. I also use metallic exclusively.

It seems to me that anyone who only uses one thread type, whether it is Regular, NCP, or Metalic only, severely limits their ability to create beautiful wraps. Combinations of different thread types have allowed me to make what some have called amazing wraps over the years. I have an enormous collection of thread in all different sizes and just about every color, and use them all to one extent or another. Just my view.

Not sure what's going on with metallic not looking good. I've used 4 brands of thread, NCP + regular nylon + metallic with and without three brands of CP with Prokote and Flex coat lite and regular and have had zero problems with metallic not looking terrific. My only insight has nothing to do with appearance: Pro Kote seems to take longer to cure and cures a little softer than Flex Coat.
