I'm just finishing my first build on a MHX Mb873. they rate it at 10-17# test and 1/4-3/4 oz... to me it seems more stout than that. do they trend to be underrated? Re: mhx blank ratings

Everyone sees things differently, it does not make either perception wrong, as there is no standard to go by. Re: mhx blank ratings

Just like Spencer say everyone sees things differently as a rod made by Lamiglas for Flipping my have a slightly different line rating then the flipping rod made by Batson but they will both cover the exact same thing as it all comes down to the Manufacturer but basically the line rating does not come down to anything except what the the fisherman thinks is right and it is not that important at all. I too think the MHX blanks are a little "stout" for their published line/lure ratings. I take that into consideration that when choosing MHX blanks. I also think the MHX blanks provide a lot of "bang for the buck". I have built on 7 or 8 (hobby builder) of their blanks and will build on more in the future!! Rog Re: mhx blank ratings

I agree on at least the sj843 7 foot spin jig blank. It is much more stout than the rating. I should have known by the weight of the blank and its dimensions (diameters). Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
