White guide trim bands

Has anyone used white thread for trim bands on a guide winding ?
A customer requested maroon windings with white trim wraps for a fly rod and I'm wondering how that will turn out.
Will the trim remain white or will it fade to clear ?
I'll wrap a test but would like to know what I should anticipate.

Thanks,

Gene

Eugene,

Regular white will most likely darken, even with cp. NCP white would be better, but may still darken slightly, and will be flat and paintlike in appearance ( which prob won't matter with a couple bands).

I suggest several test wraps.

Also, you might try silver for a couple trim bands.

Chris

Also, if you use regular white, and no cp, it will become mostly clear.

NCP white with color preserver will stay pretty white. It'll look good. Make a test wrap and see for yourself.

I just posted a picture using NCP White with CP on it in the photo gallery.

I'm not sure how to put a link in, but if you look under my name you will find it.....

Sulky Metallic thread in Prism White works great for that purpose.

I agree with David on the use of a white Metallic for consistent uniform result.

NCP white (size A) with scarlet red will produce a nice maroon wrap without using CP. Gudebrod
Garnet 206 or equivalent and NCP white with CP also produces nice maroon wraps. The color will be a little more solid, the non-NCP wrap will be more translucent, but the NCP trip will make a nice contrast.

I use this color combination a lot as it works well with black, gray and green blanks.

I agree on the metallic white solution, but the use of test wraps cannot be overstated. Keep in mind the entry above where the customer is displeased with rod balance. You can avoid that by giving the customer a piece of an old blank (same color!!) with various wraps on it.

Thanks to all.
The Prizm white with CP is the right stuff.
