Hello James -
I have used the CRB Inshore blanks extensively. I have built a bunch of them as popping rods (both spinning and casting). I probably have 30 or 40 ISP703s and ISP704s out there. I have never had a failure or a blank that wasn't straight and to spec. I like them because the action is perfect to me for a popping rod, plus they are durable enough (and have thick enough tip sections) that they will survive a few knocks from a popping cork, etc. They also resist a set if your client insists on leaving them wound down tight and bent in an upright rod holder all day every day. They are a neutral clear graphite color that you can wrap up with any color you (or your client) desires. And they are relatively cheap at $60 some apiece. Great blanks at a great price IMHO. I have also built the ISP763s. I have never built the 805 as it is a bit heavier. When I have needed 8' length I have extended ISP763s. I got into these by calling Bob McKamey at Mudhole and walking him through what I wanted. I'd suggest giving him a call, telling him what you want to do with the rod and what you want to spend, and he can make sure you are getting into a good blank. I hope this helps - good luck! bill,
how would you compare these blanks to the MHX p903 or p904? Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
