Is it just me or something I am doing or do you guys find that rods sporting single foot guides seem to catch and hang the line more than rods with double foot guides? Seems like every time I wind up and secure my lure and then prepare to go back fishing the line has wrapped around a single foot guide about a third of the way back from the tip. I cannot remember this happening nearly as much when I was using mostly double foot guides on everything. Re: Tangles with Single Foots?

James,
A very very easy solution to this problem. After securing your hook or lure on the hook keeper, grab the middle of the line as it runs from the tip down to the hook or lure. Then, take that line and while holding the line, simply spin the rod two or three times. As you spin the rod, the line from the tip to the hook will encircle the rod getting tighter and tighter. After about the 2nd or 3rd turn, simply take the middle of the line loop that is in your finger and loop it over a guide that is in the center of the rod. Now, you have captured all of the loose line on the rod, including the line that runs from the reel to the tip top by the two or three circles of line. If you now, want to store the rod in a rod locker, you don't have any loose or flopping lines, lures or hooks to grab on any thing in storage. If you use rod socks, the rod socks will be much easier to put on the rod and line. You want to fish again? Jus grab the line loop that is looped over the center guide, take it off the guide, let the line unwrap, take the hook from the hook keeper and go fishing with 0 tangles or loops in the line. Roger,
That is a very good idea. Chester May your line be tight and your beverages be cold! Re: Tangles with Single Foots?

Chester,
I won't take credit for it. I picked it up from a tournament fisherman who has been using it - along with his friends - for years. Re: Tangles with Single Foots?

JAmes, it happens all the time on my rods while I'm fishing. I'm not fishing the same as you though, I'm on a party boat with high rails. I'll catch a fish, lean the rod on the rail, remove the hook and when I come back the line is hung up. THis seems to be worse on spiral wrapped rods. It happens on certain types of double foot guides too. THat is what I like about the angled FUji LDB guides, they are tangle free. Just shake the rod and put slack in teh line pointing the tip down and you're ready to cast. Re: Tangles with Single Foots?
