I just got my guide MW guide set for my 7'6 rod and on the instructions it says its the suggested spacing for rods using 8 1/2" rear grip....can i use this same spacing even though i have an 11" rear grip or do i have to adjust for the longer rear grip? if so does anyone know how i should adjust it for the 11" rear grip? Hi Jon,
Go ahead and get the guides on using the recommended spacing, static test and cast . Rear grip length has nothing to do with guide placement. ESFNEM Col Port Kembla, NSW Australia Re: MicroWave Guide placement for longer rear grip?

ahhhhh i see now i misunderstood...it doesnt matter how far up the blank the reel is as long as the guide closest to it is 19 1/2" away? Re: MicroWave Guide placement for longer rear grip?

Right, it's the distance between the reel and the MIcroWave guide that's important. For longer handles, you may have to take out a running guide or two. Or even respace them slightly. But as long as the distance from the reel to the MicroWave (butt guide) is the same, you're perfectly fine.

hmm it says 19 1/2 inches from the spool does that mean the big ring or the small ring? Re: MicroWave Guide placement for longer rear grip?

Hi Jon,
Use the top ring or take the spool off and use the end of the shaft. Also get the spool or shaft in the halfway position ie halfway between top and bottom positions. You have a bit of leeway so don't worry to much if it's a bit out. Do some test casting and see how it performs with the stripper a bit closer and then a bit further. You might not be able to notice much difference. When your happy with that do a static test to ensure the blank is evenly loaded. IMO that's more important than getting a few extra feet casting distance. ESFNEM Col Port Kembla, NSW Australia Re: MicroWave Guide placement for longer rear grip?
