OK,so I have 3 bottles (1oz) of U-40 permagloss,One bottle was solid from top to bottom and the other one was very thick in consistency although I managed to use it. Do I dare open the third one? I know this stuff is good on a rod but I don't think I ever got a bottle that wasn't too old to use, what's up with this stuff and how can I get a new good bottle of PG? Re: permagloss

Been a lot of posts here on how to keep that from happening. Also the Trondak people say a new bottle cap has mostly taken care of the problem. Re: permagloss

Use the 4oz paint cans with the eye screw in the bottom. This lasts forever as no air gets in when you use it.

Frank,
I spoke with Dan from Trondak, and he did indeed show me that the new bottles come with a different cap, which is supposed to prevent or slow waaay down, the problem you describe. I have not tried the new cap yet. I have a large bottle that I have kept in the fridge for the last 7 years. It is in an old pickle jar with silica gel; whether that helps or not. I use a little on most rods, so it does get exposure. Chris Re: permagloss

I have one of those vacuum seal food saver things. I used about 1/2 a bottle of perma gloss last year. just to see what would happen I put the bottle in a bag and vac sealed it. it's been sitting on my bench for over a year now with no thickening. Re: permagloss
