Trouble with the Spine

I am having an issue with finding the spine on my new build. I am building on a Rainshadow ip904 and when I spine the rod, I mark it and then look down the blank and see that the bend in the tip doesnt match my spine marks. I want to build straight on the spine but dont want to have the rod look bent. Please help!

The effective spine and straightest axis almost never match. Most commercial manufacturers and custom builders build in the straightest axis, not the spine. It won't hurt if you do build on the spine, but it's not going to do anything for you.

If you want to "build straight" then most likely you're going to have to disregard the spine.

Build on the straightest section of the blank.

Build it on the straightest axis. Many, many builders use the straightest axis with no issues whatsoever.

Building on the spine is "old school" and has no appreciable benefit.
