Has anyone tried to use an air brush to paint a rod? Re: Painting a Rod Blank

I don't know why you couldn't. I'm not up on spray technology but I believe the air brush is a smaller, lower volume spray system. Many have spray painted blanks. I did a search because I was curious myself. Check out these discussion threads:

I use the largest tip size with 25-30# of pressure. I use Tamiya acrylic paint, (made for RC Car bodies), and thin it 25% with the Tamiya thinner, (to about the consistency of milk). The RC paint is real flexible as it is made for the plastic RC Cars bodies that take a real beating. Works great. I them give the blank a coat of two part automotive urethane clear coat, (the good stuff that you can't buy in CA any longer). It is almost bullet proof with the urethane. While it is no longer available in CA, a fellow rod builder had bought a gallon of it years ago, ($240.00 worth), and he gave me Tupperware cups of the resin, hardener and thinner. The air brush works great for me. Try it. Don Campbell don@sensorfishingrods.com Re: Painting a Rod Blank
