Im in need of a blank that can handle A-Rigs weighing up to 12oz.
I've already done a little research on the T1 that Lance sells but Im not too sure if it'll be able to handle 12oz(the guys at Seeker would not recommend the T1 for 12oz and the other recommended blanks are 9' and extremely heavy). The last thing I want is the blank exploding on him(my customer complained about tip blow outs on his previous "custom rods" - NOT built by me, not on the T1's).
any suggestions?

Perhaps try a lighter musky blank. Many companies sell them these days and the larger tip size may be just what you need to prevent blowouts. I would stay away from high mod graphite (at least in the tip) to avoid breakage. Or, you could go out on a limb and try something like a live bait action in e glass although the weight of the blank would likely increase. Don't be too concerned about getting a blank that someone has stamped "A-rig" on, just look for the blank characteristics your customer wants.

I'm a little curious about a 12 oz Alabama rig. I built an A rig rod last year, and have used it quite extensively for bass. It is rated 2 to 6 oz.

Before I built the rod, I weighed a couple of commercially made rigs, and a homemade one made from utility flag wire. I came up with
2 1/2 oz for a commercially using five 3/16 oz jig heads, and five swimmin' Super Flukes. The utility wire A rig was about 1 oz more.

No kidding, 12oz sounds like a U rig trolling set up for stripe bass. Tossing 12oz lures sounds like torture.

found a blank... I'll report back once built and casted...should be fun!
