Hey guys,
I am in looking for a spinning blank to cast crappie jigs. This will be for casting small bucktails and tubes from 1/64 to 1/8 oz. I am wanting something around 8'. I would like to keep the cost down as much as possible as it will be fished from the rocks and destroying it at any moment is always a possibility. That said, sensitivity is a must so I may have to bite the bullet and pay a little more for it and just take the chance. I will probably fish some sort of very small braid or nano with this build so I was thinking of using the Microwave guides. Thanks for any input. Re: lite spinning blank recommendation

Greg,
I really like the Batson Rainshadow IP840. I've built one with the new Microwave guides and one with regular guides. Either one works great and they will not break your bank. I just returned from Kentucky Lake with crappie for the freezer. Lance at swampland will help you out. Re: lite spinning blank recommendation

I agree with Howard.
The IP840 is a wonderful Crappie rod. Roger Re: lite spinning blank recommendation

Hey Spencer,
I must be looking at something wrong. The only 804 I can find is a RX7 IF804 and the only ones of those I have found are listed for $60+. The IP840 looks promising and I may build one of each If I can find a supplier that stocks both. Re: lite spinning blank recommendation

Greg,
The 840 is a great blank, but certainly a little shorter than you are looking for. The RX6 Forecast blanks are on the second group on this page: [www.batsonenterprises.com] Also, you can order the full line of Batson blanks and components, and some other things from Utmost Enterprises to the left. Some suppliers will have a blank drop shipped to you if it is something that they don't keep in stock, so if you have a favorite vendor, ask if they can get it for you. If the 8 foot length is a big priority, consider the fastest 2 or 3 weight fly blank you can find. Will still be slower than the 840, a different kind of rod, but should work ok. A good rod to have in your arsenal, shouldn't be that expensive. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
