KYRBS Event - 4/13/13
Posted by: Jeremy Reed (---.owb.bellsouth.net)
Date: April 13, 2013 10:04PM

Today we had the first KYRBS event in Grand Rivers, KY. We had 10 people present, and Kentucky, Tennessee, and Missouri represented. We started at 8 am and finished around 4pm. We added a soldier stationed at Fort Campbell to that group that is just starting to look at building his own rods. Even though he hasn't built a rod yet, he was able to cut off a reel seat after JB Hunt covered the topic. We covered a number of topics and still could have went another 3 hours discussing stuff. We will be looking to have another event in October and we are still exploring venues in other parts of the state. Eventually we will look at having more than 2 events per year, but until we get some more traction, we will be just 2 this year.

A special thanks goes out to the sponsors. Because of you all, everyone present was to walk away with some really nice door prizes.
Thank you to the following:

Batson Enterprises
Hydra Fishing
Swampland Tackle
Cork4us
RodMaker Magazine.

Pictures have been posted on the KYRBS Facebook Page.

I want to thank Jeremy for putting in the effort to organize the first meeting of KYRBS. From all of us who attended he deserves a slap on the back.
We probably bit off more than we could chew. More to cover in our next meeting.
He did allow (2) Tennesseans to infultrate the gathering. We reframed from wearing anything orange or black and gold. We also had a representative from across the river from Mo.
After we broke the ice this morning the information and a few tales started to flow.

Nice work Jeremy!

Mark Marshall

A big thanks goes out to Jeremy for hosting such a wonderful event. It was our first meeting and everything went great. It was a pleasure meeting Mark Marshall even though he is from TN. we wont hold that against him. We made some great friendships. Many thanks to all the sponsors and everyone who took the time out to make it to our first gathering. Looking forward to seeing everyone at our next meeting.

Mr. Eshelman,

You ain't joking. It is really nice when everyone can go home with something that was donated. It really adds to the event. Everyone walked home with a kigan hook keeper from Hyrda. Everyone went home with some really nice donated items. We had some recent past issues of RodMaker donated that were given out to anyone who wanted them. There was a 31 year old soldier that took some of them. He was in awe. He is just starting to look at building and was amazed just flipping through them. Like many of us when we began, he had no clue as to what could be done with rod building. Heck, I didn't even know you could have snake skin, etc., until I started.

I had invited some high school bass teams but there was a tournament on Barkley they were fishing. Also, it didn't help matters that Saturday was opening day of turkey season.

Mr. Marshall - it was actually 3 TN guys. The younger guy that came in is from Clarksville, so we are almost at our TN quota. In all seriousness, the more the merrier. Hopefully we can get around 20 next time.
