I am building a 10' 6 wt fly rod on a MHX blank and would like some advice on possible thread colors. ordered pro wrap midas gold#704 and want a silver or contrasting trim wrap. might consider a non matalic trim of a contrasting thread. any ideas? Re: thread color for MHX fly rod

It depends upon the look you want. I prefer a subtle, no bling look, so I use basic color threads like Garnet, Dark Green, Royal blue or even black, all without CP and especially not NCP. I do often put a very small metallic trim on them. Re: thread color for MHX fly rod

I'm with Phil, same thread colors, no CP , regular nylon, small metallic trim bands at the ferrule wraps. My favorite on that color of a blank is Fishhawk Garnet or Gudebrod Navy Blue. Subtle but classy. Another color that may work is Rust with a Silver Metallic trim band if the MHX blank is similar in color to a North Fork Comp blank. Re: thread color for MHX fly rod

settled on a brown thread with a tan trim wrap. the blank is a glossy dark green and the brown and tan look good w/o being flashy. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
