Looking to build a slip bobber rod for walleye. I cant decide between the MHX SJ9000 or the MHX CB903. The rod may pull double duty using lindy rigs as well. Im leaning towards the SJ9000, but wanted to get some other opinions. Re: Walleye Slip Bobber Blank

I think SJ9000 is more suited for what you're looking for. The CB903 is Mod-Fast action which is more for crankbaits, more forgiveness on a strike with less chance of the fish coming off. The SJ9000 is a fast action and therefore gathers up your line more quickly increasing your fish hooking success. Re: Walleye Slip Bobber Blank

Mitch,
I would only go with the SJ9000 The SJ9000 - is rated for 6-12 lb line - 1.8 oz weight, .514 butt and 4.5 tip The CB903 is rated for 8-15, 2 oz weight, .496 butt and 5.0 tip. If you want to only use it for slip bobbering and want to be able to cast it a country mile, then go to the heavier and stiffer - CB903. But, if you are also going to use the rod for lindy rigging, t hen go with the SH9000 with the lighter and more visual bite indicating tip. Good luck Roger p.s I have an IMX 9000 that I use for slip bobbering and it is by far my favorite rod for this use. I also use this rod for float fishing for crappies. With a rocket bobber and a light jig, and a large spool spinning reel, it is possible to cast the float nearly out of sight. A great way to cast past a school of spooky crappies, work the school and then reel quickly in to cast again. Enjoy the choices. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
