Calstar RT80 6' 6"

Hi does anyone know if Calstar still makes this blank ? I've seen the 5' 6" version but they also made it in 6' 6". If so can any sponsor get it.

Just built two with Aftco bent buts and Winthrops. They put a serious beating on the bluefin in north carolina this past march. Here's short video of them in action... [www.youtube.com]

Great action on the rod. Did you leave the blank full length with a 20 tip or cut back a little? I've read some people cut it back to a 24.

That is personal preference as to the application you'll be using the rod. In a chair you are looking for the rod tip/line angle to be able to clear the stern (don't forget it needs to clear the corners).

In Greg's application they need all the length they can get because the fish are typically fought directly from the rod holder. The rod and it's action is what fights the fish. That length, parabolic bend, and the wave action "pump" the fish to the surface and allow you to gain line.
